Tips & Tricks on Maximizing Your LGBT Twitter Posts with #ILoveGay

One of the most common hurdles individuals and businesses have is the time they feel is involved in doing social media marketing, and simply adding another media such as Twitter into the mix might just sound overwhelming.  Our goal is to show you how to make your current online marketing efforts more efficient time-wise, as well as how to take active yet simple steps in increasing their exposure.  We'll also be showing you how to get your content noticed by our online editors and included in our #ILoveGay initiatives and outreach.

Here's our first tip... many of you are creating beautiful HTML e-mail newsletters. In order to truly get your message out there on Twitter, you should take these well-crafted e-mail newsletters and turn them into a blog post, whether on a separate blog such as Medium, BlogSpot or Tumblr, or as part of a series of articles on your website that is set up more like a blog (common with WordPress sites). Include at least one good image, if not more, in the blog post. It is this format that can allow your message to be shared via social media in the best way possible.  When sharing via Twitter, use #ILoveGay in order for it to be reviewed and considered for rebroadcast by our editors.

Photos: Here's a tip we use almost daily... IFTTT.  This online service allows you to set up "applets" which do one simple function.  In this case, what we've set up is for any photos we upload onto Instagram and hashtag #ILoveGay, they will be automatically Tweeted as a photo (posting directly from Instagram to Twitter without IFTTT does not include the photo on Twitter, but rather just a link to the Instagram photo, thereby lessening the Tweet's effectiveness.

We have a 2nd IFTTT applet which automatically uploads to Twitter AND uploads the photo to a specific Facebook business page photo album.  Instagram allows for easy posting of a photo onto your personal Facebook profile, but automating the posting of photos onto your Facebook business page is another matter.  This applet is cleaner than the 1st one above, as it does not include any IFTTT links in the automatically posted Tweet.

Another tip is designed for when you are posting your photos directly onto Twitter, rather than having them go through Instagram.  Twitter allows you to post 4 photos together, and when they are displayed to your Twitter followers, they appear as a well-designed collage.  Some Twitter feeds show the 4 photos in a grid, while Twitter on a desktop computer shows the 1st image larger and the other 3 photos as thumbnails.  Gorgeous!  It's all about maximizing the aesthetic!
