6th Annual LGBT Marketing Conference The Best Ever
This past week, on Friday, April 12, 2013, Community Marketing and Pink Banana Media held their 6th annual LGBT Marketing Conference at the Eventi Hotel in New York City... and it was their best conference to date! Community Marketing and Pink Banana Media started the morning, discussing the latest in LGBT market research trends, as well as social media marketing to the LGBT community. Some of the presentations new to the marketing conference included "The LGBT Financial Experience" by Prudential Financial, and a case study entitled "Care With Pride: Johnson & Johnson Takes A Stand Against Bullying," showcasing how making outreach to the LGBT community and including employee volunteers can profit a company both externally to consumers and internally to employee morale and commitment from within. Of course, Matt Tumminello of Target 10 did an incredible job presenting this project, which included online marketing, film screenings and pride events as part of their overall marketing mix.
David Foucher of Edge Networks provided a unique and up-to-date presentation on LGBT mobile marketing, and Merryn Johns of Curve Magazine updated us on the latest in reaching the lesbian market, both in print and online. Richard Brower of Caesars Entertainment rounded out the morning with his presentation on Loyalty Marketing to LGBT Customers, providing insight into some of the latest marketing efforts Caesars Entertainment is pursuing to better differentiate itself in the ever-growing casino and entertainment landscape.
The afternoon sessions included an updated presentation on the power of print media in 2013 by Todd Evans of Rivendell Media, as well as several workshops including Reaching LGBT Consumers through Influential Blogger Campaigns by Deb Rox and Lead Generation For Small Business by Ilana Schwartz of onlinemarketinggrp. Pink Banana Media wrapped up the day discussing more advanced concepts and topics in social media, including the power of influencers and where things are headed this year in terms of Klout.com, Google Plus and LinkedIn.
This power-packed day was not complete without a post-conference networking reception held in the Eventi conference center lobby, sponsored by Barefoot Wines and the NGLCCNY. We had a full house at the reception, where conference attendees, speakers and sponsors were able to relax and mix. Sponsors of this year's event included those listed above, as well as Dot429, Group G3, Multicultural Marketing Resources, Echelon Magazine, Out Professionals and the NYC LGBT Chamber of Commerce.
Attendees this year included Google, Prudential, Caesars Entertainment, American Airlines, Johnson & Johnson, the German National Tourist Office, VisitSweden, Walton Isaacson, NYC & Company, Visit Flanders, the Victory Fund and Pink Triangle Press, just to name a few.
Stay tuned for upcoming information on the 7th Annual LGBT Marketing Conference coming to New York in 2014. You won't want to miss it!
